Who We Are

SPREADING GOOD JUJU - AKA LOVE - IS A CHOICE.  IT'S A DELIBERATE CELEBRATION OF OUR LOVE AND ITS LIVING THINGS

Our Story

Once upon a time, three quirky friends came together over a shared love of card-giving, visual storytelling, and the power of expressing our vulnerabilities and differences with one another across space and time. These three quirky friends realized that – WITH THEIR POWERS COMBINED – they could build a greeting card company focused on encouraging modern peoples to slow down, write a letter, and stay present. These three quirky friends (also known as Juliana Tyson, Ryan Kissick, and Marina Lieban) aspired to create a community of Magic and Joy where illustration and design are used to spark a dialogue with consumers about the mysteries and beauties of being a person. With an emphasis on conscious consumerism, preserving and celebrating our natural world, and the very real reality of “what goes around comes around”, the spirit of Good Juju Ink is rooted in the notion that, with every day we are given, we have the choice to spread good juju, good vibes, good spirit, understanding, love.

Through our hand-designed paper goods, we seek to touch anyone with a sense of humor and an appreciation for the tender absurdity of this thing we call life. Our mission – our hope – is to inspire you to be your own champion of making an effort…to help you answer the question: “How am I spreading good juju in my life?” Good Juju Ink is not a lifestyle brand; we are a way of life brand. We encourage you to join us on our journey as we aim to spread good juju one illustration at a time.

Our Team

Juliana Tyson Kissick

CEO & Illustrator Extraordinaire
Juliana became "Juju" when her 1-year-old sister decided it was the only logical way to pronounce her name. Juju spent the majority of her life as a professional dancer, choreographer, and actress in Los Angeles but, in 2014, decided it was her life's calling to spread good juju and positivity through the age old tradition of illustrating greeting cards. Luckily for her, Juju's been able to draw up a storm since she was a Crayola-wielding toddler. And though she was classically trained in fine art, Juju taught herself graphic design by studying digital illustration on Pinterest every night for 6 hours for two years straight. This is a true story. And while she wasn't paid by Pinterest to tell you that story she IS accepting any payment that they or anyone else is willing to give her. Juju's favorite card is---ARE YOU KIDDING THEY'RE ALL HER FAVORITE CARDS.

Ryan Kissick

Head of Operations
Avid scuba diver, wildlife photographer, and raised alongside the oceans and mountains of the Sunshine State, Ryan is obsessed with all things nature and -- thankfully for us here at Good Juju Ink -- all things Excel spreadsheets. And while he's only moderately intelligent, a mere three degrees (BA, MA, MBA) from Stanford University, Ryan makes up in awkward white man dancing what he lacks in totally underperforming client management/financial strategy/inventory tracking/shipping operations/bookkeeping...etc. Basically, there's nothing Ryan doesn't do. Except cilantro. He definitely doesn't do cilantro. His favorite card is Melba the Birthday Manatee, and he's saved every single card his wife (Juju) has ever given him. Which is a lot. Cuz she makes cards. Like a LOT of cards.

Marina Lieban

Magic Maker
Born and raised in paradise (a.k.a Hawaii), Marina helps keep the Good Juju Ink ship steady with her island vibes and "everything will be fine" attitude. Possessing a brain that is 50% creative and 50% logistics, Marina takes care of website management, operations optimization, design roadmaps, and always responding to texts with THE perfect GIF. When not thinking of new ways to spread good juju all over the world, Marina can be found hiking with her mini Goldendoodle, crafting like there's no tomorrow, or doing some combination of crying/singing/dancing at SoulCycle.

Brie Spielmann

Production Wizard
Bio under construction!

Kenzie Fox

Design Intern
Born and raised near Grand Rapids, Michigan, Kenzie is an illustrator, designer, and self-proclaimed lover of all things warm and fuzzy. As of December 2018, she will have completed a BFA in Studio Art and Illustration from Grand Valley State University. Her hobbies include practicing yoga, searching for good gluten free food in the Midwest (does it exist?!), and proving people wrong - nicely. She likes to be considered a challenger of the status quo and an advocate for human joy via quirky, authentic illustration. Catch her on the weekend jammin' to anything from Halsey to Hozier at a cozy coffee house or walking her furry, four-legged Pomsky princess, Zeppelin. (Yes - she is absolutely a princess.)

Spreading Good Juju

Good Juju Ink believes we can all slow down and be a little bit more thoughtful

At the heart of Good Juju Ink is the notion of spreading good juju, good spirit, good energy--- a.k.a. love. We spread good juju by sending thoughtful cards to those we already know and care about, but we also think it’s important to spread good juju to those we do not know, to those in our greater community, to the world at large. Therefore, a portion of ALL of our proceeds goes toward supporting the charitable works of some pretty fantastic nonprofit organizations.

It's no secret we are MAJOR animal lovers and appreciate everything the natural world has to offer, so a portion of the proceeds from our Good Juju Ink sales goes to The Nature Conservancy. In addition to helping humans and nature live in harmony, they also fight to protect our beloved elephants around the globe.
